  The objective of this article is to sum up the common problems existing in the management information system of students in higher vocational institutes by analyzing its present application status. On this basis, and taking ‘A Higher Vocational Institute’ as a typical case study, it explores the application of integrated management theory on the management information system of students in higher vocational institutes, and by analyzing and diagnosing its existing problems, it tries to implement the required optimization of the operation procedures of student management, and suggests a solution by making use of informational means to implement an overall planning to every information system of the institute, selecting a suitable integrated platform and integrating every ‘information island’ of all the departments in the institute.
